Sailcloth Wedding Tents for Petoskey and Little Traverse Bay
Sailcloth is the tent people photograph. Its translucent fabric picks up the last light over the bay, and its high peaks and scalloped edges read as part of the landscape rather than a structure dropped onto it. Our sailcloth tents run 32′ and 44′ wide and 32′ to 144′ long, and they’re built for wind, rain and sun. Add clear sailcloth sidewalls to keep the view when the evening breeze comes off the water.

For an August wedding weekend in Bay Harbor near Petoskey, we installed a 44′ × 104′ sailcloth tent with clear sailcloth sidewalls on half of it, keeping the waterfront in view while giving guests cover. Perimeter and peak market lighting carried the reception into the night. Behind the scenes, a 20′ × 20′ white HD frame tent with solid walls, lighting and banquet tables gave the caterer a dedicated kitchen. A ski resort in summer called for warmth without fuss. A 16′ × 24′ Birch & White Checker dance floor anchored the reception, flanked by a white racetrack bar and a white provincial bar. Can you set up a tent on a bluff, slope or waterfront lawn?
In most cases, yes. On the free site visit we check grade, soil, wind exposure and truck access, then plan the tent, flooring and anchoring around them. Tent flooring levels out a sloped lawn, and clear sidewalls keep the view while blocking the breeze off the bay.
What's the best tent for a Northern Michigan wedding?
For a waterfront or resort wedding, most couples choose sailcloth: the translucent fabric glows at sunset and the peaks echo the sailboats on the bay. Clear-top frame tents suit stargazing receptions, and rope & pole tents offer a classic look. We’ll recommend a style once we’ve seen your site and guest count.

When should I book for summer 2027?
Now. July and August weekends up north fill first, and our sailcloth tents and checkered dance floors are limited. A consultation now gets your site visit and tent layout done while your date is still open.
